Dream, Define, Deliver - Our Design Process

Here at The Orangery Interior Design, we love to create wonderful spaces to live in. We do this in a number of ways and there are different levels of service we can provide for what you need. This might mean updating a room by refreshing the upholstery, creating a scheme for a particular room or creating an entire vision for your home.

We are happy to provide all three but it really is very exciting when a customer comes to us wishing to discuss their entire new build project or a major renovation. So, how does it all work?

We like to think of it as the 3 “D’s” – Dream, Define, Deliver.

First of all, we simply like to Dream. After the initial enquiry, our Interior Design Director will come to your home or office to consult on your plans, depending on whether it’s a new build or a renovation project. This is where we get to grips with your hopes and dreams for your new home, look at images of what you like and don’t like. We assess practical elements like time, budget and architect plans. This will result in a Design proposal outlining our fees and suggested timelines.

With all the information we then Define. We will develop drawings and mood boards of each individual room but also look at very practical considerations such as lighting, fixtures and fittings and may even suggest improvements on initial plans. We deal with everyday living and our years of experience mean that we can be a helpful friend in the management of your project, highlighting any design improvements. Some of our clients are international businessmen and women and our computer generated images mean that you can be anywhere in the world but still be involved with your project. Above you will find an example of a CGI we organised for a client. Following this, we will meet to discuss the mood boards and drawings, make improvements, take on board your comments and then present final plans for your sign off.

We will challenge you! Test routes and new concepts to ensure your design is right for you and your family. As part of this, we will suggest furniture options, fabrics, flooring, lighting and more. We can also create bespoke furniture for awkward corners, large spaces or simply to create a unique statement in your home.

Deliver. The next step is to deliver all that we have promised. We will act as your project manager of the interior design process and work hand in hand to remove pressure from our clients, help with logistics and source fittings, fixtures and equipment. At every step of the way, we will check in with you to ensure you are happy with all we are doing and that you get final say on finishes, lighting plans and more. You can be as involved as you wish. Some clients take a very hands off approach (and we work with that) but on most residential projects, we find that clients wish to participate in decisions regarding their home.

We take huge pride in delivering for our clients. Being entrusted with the design of a home is a major responsibility and we work tirelessly to ensure your dream is delivered on time and on budget.

Interested? Why not get in touch and let us help you deliver your dream home.
